Who can
get a library card?
Library cards are given to anyone who lives, works or attends school in the Town of Yorktown or residents of the Town of Cortlandt who are in the Lakeland School District. Proof of residency/employment/school attendance is required.

How to
get a library card?
You must appear in person and present proof of residency (driver's
license, telephone bill with other ID).
Students attending school in Yorktown but living elsewhere must
present a letter on school stationery, with the current term's date,
stating they are currently enrolled.
How long does it take?
With proper identification, the card is available within minutes.

What does
it permit the cardholder to take out and for how long?
Most materials may be borrowed for 3 weeks, or newest books for
2 weeks, with one renewal, except for anything on reserve.
Magazines have a 7 day circulation with one 7 day renewal.
Video cassettes & DVDs may be borrowed for a 7 day renewal.
Express books may be borrowed for 7 days with no renewal or reserves.
Books on tape and CDs may be borrowed for 3 weeks, with one renewal,
except for anything on reserve
