Singer Heady Duty Sewing Machine

Residents 14+ can use their Yorktown library card to reserve one of the makerspace's three Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machines for up to two times per week. The library has a limited supply of basic sewing kits (including needles, threaders, pins, pin cushion, etc.). Patrons should bring materials and tools that are specific to their own projects.

For clarification or assistance with our Singer sewing machines, feel free to reach out via email to reference@yorktownlibrary.org.

How to Reserve

Time slots for this machine will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm-4pm: view and book available time slots at this link.
A patron can book a time slot one month into the future and can book up to two times per week. Upon the first use of the Makerspace, patrons will need to fill out a Makerspace User Agreement agreeing to the Makerspace Terms of Use upon entering the makerspace; this will be a google form that only needs to be filled out once and will be kept on file.
Before you come to an Open Maker visit be sure to:

  • Know what materials you need to bring for your project: The makerspace has basic tools, and sewing kits for patron use. Patrons need to bring in any specialized or specific materials or tools needed. More details can be found below under Supplies & Materials
  • When you arrive for your reservation, check in at the reference desk
  • Patrons arriving more than 15 minutes late for their reservation may lose their reservation(s) for the day. Repeated failures to show up for reservations (without canceling) will result in Open Makerspace privileges being temporarily revoked.
  • Makerspace staff is only available to help with set-up and to answer basic questions
